Production of security seals

The production process of plastic security seals is divided into several steps:

  1. Injection moulding of the sealbody and the insert (locking mechanism).
  2. Assembly of the sealis performed either manually or automatically - depending on type and quantity.
  3. Marking is performed by hot stamping, laser engraving, thermoprint technology or Ink jet.

Marking

Standard marking of the seals with consecutive numbering only. On demand the seals can be further customized by individual text print, logo print, white writing pad and simillar. In case the customer requires logo print by hot stamping, special customized logo die has to be produced. Printing standard leters is available without any extra charge (limitation is only by the seal size). For more information on marking selected seals, please see the product catalogue.

For customers seeking automation in reading and recording the seals, there is the possibility to mark standard 1D and 2D barcode types (Code 128, Interleave 2/5, Code 39, EAN 13, Datamatrix). Other code types may be avilable, for more technical information contact our sales staff at +420 486 142 036.

The bar coded seals are tested for good readability using Motorola Symbol scanners.

Marking of barcodes is performed by laser engraving technology or for small series also by ink jet. For marking seals by laser, only some colors of seals are avaible due to the technical limitations of the barcode scanners - the colors are yellow, white, red, grey. Other colors may be availble, but require individual testing.

Hot stamping

Hot stamping is the main technology used for marking the Euroseal security seals. The method guarantees for absolutely evident seal marking. In case of any efforts to remove or manipulate the marking, it is always possible using mechanoscopic techniques to prove the existence of original marking.

It is possible to print unified size text, graphical logo and up to 7 digit number of unified size. The print color can be selected, typical colors are white and black, other colors are available upon request and are subject to possible technological limitations. To hot stamp a customer's logo, it is necessary to produce a special logo printing die (subject to an extra charge). The only print limitation of hot stamping technology is the impossibility to print bar codes.

The logo printing die / numbering head is heated up to 130 oC. Then it is stamped over a color ribbon onto the seal. The heated die together with the color ribbon forms embossed colored print in the material of the seal.

Laser engraving

Laser engraving a state of the art marking technology of the Euroseal (r) products. It produces a resistant print which can be formed from even very thin lines, have complicated logos or symbols. It is of course possible to print both number and bar code. The print is always monochromatic and the color of print can not be selected. Light colors are marked directly onto the seal, darker colors use extra white background for higher contrast and better readability. Use of the laser marking is suitable for applications requiring more complicated seal marking, bar code and increased mechanical resistance of the marking.

To be able to mark a plastic seal by laser, special pigment powder has to be added into the material for molding. The powder provides better contrast of the marking and does not modify the material qualities of the seal. During the marking process, the laser beam gets in contact with the material and by means of the produced heat creates the required marking of the seal.

Thermoprinting

Thermo-print marking provides great versatility in printing. The seal can be marked with logo, number, bar code or any other graphical symbol the customer requires. The print color can be selected. This technology is suitable for applications that are not exposed to high mechanical friction or chemically aggressive environment (solvents and oil products). The print is resistant to normal scratching.

First print layout is prepared and then thermo printer prepares the images onto a transparent transfer foil coated with wax and resin. The seals are placed onto a flat bed and hot marking roller rolls over the seals and transfers the required print image from the foil. The temperature is between 260 - 300 Centigrades.

Ink Jet printing

The seals are marked by means of precisison ink jet printing. This technology is used only for printing barcodes. Marked plastic seals: PL 91, PL 95

Quality guarantee and Unique number guarantee

During each production stage, the seals are constantly monitored to assure maximum quality of the product. Marking being very important to assure tracability, every produced seal is either visually or elecronically checked for possible print defects.

EUROSEAL maintains a database of all produced seals, their marking and numbering. We can guarantee to our customers that we will not produce a duplicate seal (two seals of the same color, marking and number).
